The phrase “able to work” applies to individuals being mentally and physically capable of professional labor similar to that which they carried out previously, or work for which they are academically, experientially, or professionally suited. The term “availability for work” means that claimants, to fulfill Arkansas unemployment eligibility, must be prepared to accept work as soon as it becomes available to them regardless of any circumstances or reasons, personal or otherwise, that might in other situations prevent them from doing so. “‘Reasonable effort to find work” refers to individuals making the very best efforts they can to obtain work by contacting the relevant authorities and services that might assist with this enterprise. After a certain amount of time claiming Arkansas unemployment benefits payments, claimants are expected to redouble their efforts and search for employment in fields, which while not exactly their specialization, are related to it and that utilize lesser skill, qualifications, and experience. |
