The eligibility requirements for Arkansas unemployment benefits are:

You have been laid off from your job.

You are able to physically and mentally perform suitable work.

You are available for suitable work.

You are actively looking for suitable work.

You are not participating in or you do not have a direct interest in a labor dispute.

You are not disqualified for any reason.

You will have to serve a one week waiting period before your benefits will start.  This waiting period must be one in which you have not worked to qualify as your waiting period.  It can not be a week in which you were disqualified for any reason.  It must also be a week that you are eligible for unemployment benefits on your Initial Claims form.

To be able to work means that you can physically and mentally perform the type of work that you have normally been performing and have the experience and training for.  To be available for work means that you can accept a suitable job for you as soon as it is offered to you and you do not have any reason to delay your employment or to refuse the job.  Making a reasonable effort to find employment means that you are contacting employers or local unions, submitting applications for jobs you are qualified for and doing other things that would show your attempt to find employment.

Help with your Arkansas unemployment application is available at your local Department of Workforce Services office.
